Fire Protection

Fire stations are less than five minutes to any municipal businesses in industrial park.

The Watertown Fire Department has ten trucks including a snorkel platform and two airport crash trucks. The department operates an emergency ambulance service and has four fully equipped ambulances. The department provides fire protection to eight townships and Kranzburg Village.

The Fire Department provides emergency care to Watertown residents and the adjoining rural areas through ambulance service, fire protection and fire prevention. Efforts continue to provide first rate service through continual education and recertification of personnel. The Fire Department uses the Children's Fire Safety House to instruct Watertown School District children how to safely evacuate a house in case of fire.

The City of Watertown has a contract with the County of Codington for the joint use of the Watertown Detention Center Facilities.

Lights photoThe police department continues to administer a very aggressive and pro-active accident reduction program. We continue to see a relatively static number of accidents occurring which means that we are seeing success in this area. The City continues to be a very safe community in which to reside. The crime rate continues to decline. The Police Department has been diligent in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life. Community policing continues to be a success.
